Setting up your data integration for both Accounting and Payroll systems can help save you hours of time each month updating your historical actuals. We will share a few details below on how they both work together in Finmark to provide you with the best data automation experience.

Here is the general data mapping outline:

In the image above you can see that with the Accounting integration we map in quite a bit of data. Since we import your expenses that are payroll-related, we give you the option of "marking" them as payroll to map them to your "Total Payroll". See below.

This will ensure you have 1:1 mapping from QBO total payroll paid with Finmark.

How does your payroll data map into Finmmark from the Payroll integration?

When you connect your payroll platform with Finmark and the accounting platform, we import your individual employees into the Employee Summary page along with Names, Start & End Dates, Role Type, and Pay. The historical pay for every individual employee will display in Finmark on the Employees Details or Actuals page.

Finally, as a best practice, Your accounting platform should be the source of truth for expenditures both payroll and nonpayroll related. Total Payroll in Finmark will only be updated by the expense accounts that are marked as payroll while the individual pay actuals will be updated by your payroll integration.
