How to import your historical revenue details

In this article, we will show you how you can import revenue data into Finmark. We’ve included common use cases below, please find the use case that fits best with your goals.

Follow the steps below to import your revenue details:

Revenue Only:


Step 1: From your spreadsheet, copy the revenue details as shown below:

Step 2: Then, set the calendar date picker back to the date you would like to begin recording your revenue details, create a custom variable in the fx Variables section and copy your revenue data into the variable.

Step 3: Go to the Revenue section and select +add a new revenue stream and enter the following details:

Importing Historical Customers, MRR, and Churned Customers


Step 1: In the revenue section, add your product & pricing plan:

Step 2: Add a new revenue stream, select subscription customers, and choose the product you will be importing for the historical customers.

Step 3: Choose the revenue driver for the Initial Number of New customers with MoM Growth. Set the start date to when you started acquiring customers for this product, enter the number of new customers, click next and enter 0% for growth.

Step 4: Now it's time to import your historical subscription details. Go to the Revenue Details page of your Revenue Section:

In this example, I will use data from a previous spreadsheet:

In the "New Customers" Tab, Copy and Paste the data from your current spreadsheet for new customers or plug in the details into the New Customers Tab for each month.

Next, update the new MRR in the New MRR field:

Update Churned Customers & Churned Customers MRR (If needed):

Once completed, all of your historical revenue details will now be imported into Finmark:

Importing Historical Revenue Details for One-Time Purchases


For one-time purchases, you can import the historical data in 2 ways.

  1. Follow the steps for "revenue only" to record only the revenue associated with these one-time purchases.

  2. Follow the steps below if you'd like to tie this revenue to a product.

Step 1: In the revenue section, add your product & pricing plan:

Step 2: Create a new revenue stream and select One-Time Purchases. From here, click next and select the product you will be importing the data for.

Step 3: Choose the revenue driver for the Initial Number of New Purchases with MoM Growth. (Set the end date for when you would like to stop recording historical revenue data)

Set the start date to when you started acquiring customers for this product, enter the number of new customers, click next and enter 0% for growth.

Step 4: Now it's time to import your historical subscription details. Go to the Revenue Details page of your Revenue Section:

In this example, I will use data from a previous spreadsheet:

In the "New Customers" Tab, Copy and Paste the data from your current spreadsheet for new customers or plug in the details into the New Customers Tab for each month.

This will in turn update the One-Time Revenue:
